Consob blocks six websites after Italy’s market regulator found they were offering investment services and financial instruments without proper authorisation.
The regulator said Friday it had ordered the shutdown of access to aoncfd.com, wallexmarketsbv.it.com, valore-capital.com, igcapitaleurope.com, dortuviax.it, and marketcapitalfx.com. It also targeted related client portals and trading platforms. Meanwhile, Italian internet service providers are putting the blocks in place. Consob said technical factors may delay full enforcement for several days.
Consob Blocks Six Websites in Italy
This move lifted the total number of websites blocked by Consob since July 2019 to 1,799. The regulator said 233 of those sites were tied to crypto-asset activity. Consob said it is acting under powers granted by Italy’s Growth Decree. Additionally, it said it can block platforms that offer crypto-asset services without proper authorisation under the EU’s MiCAR framework and related rules.
Regulator Warns of New Scam Tactics
Consob urged investors to check whether a platform offering investment or crypto-asset services is properly authorised before sending funds. It also said investors should make sure any required prospectus or white paper has been published. Furthermore, the regulator warned about more advanced scam methods. These include cloned websites, fake celebrity and political endorsements, and AI-made images, videos, and voice recordings aimed at misleading investors.
