Webull MiCAR approval clears the way for Webull EU to offer crypto assets to clients in the European Union, after the Dutch regulator AFM granted the authorization.
Webull EU said the approval allows users to place crypto asset orders on its platform. The firm will hold custody through Webull EU. Meanwhile, Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. will handle trade execution under a partnership.
The company said the authorization makes it one of the first dual-regulated investment firms in the Netherlands to receive MiCAR approval. Webull EU added that the current approval covers the Netherlands. However, it has already filed passporting requests for other EU markets.
Webull MiCAR Approval Covers Netherlands First
Andries van Luijk, CEO of Webull Securities (Europe), described the approval as a key step in the company’s regional growth. He said the decision shows Webull’s focus on giving clients secure and compliant access to digital assets under EU rules.
The MiCAR framework sets strict rules for investor protection and firm operations. As a result, European clients get added assurance when they trade and hold crypto assets through regulated platforms.
Crypto Launch Planned for Late 2026
Webull EU expects to start its crypto operations in late 2026. The company did not name other launch dates for additional EU markets.
Webull operates in 16 markets worldwide and serves more than 27 million registered users. Its platform offers trading in stocks, ETFs, options, futures, fractional shares, and digital assets. Additionally, it provides market data, community tools, and investor education resources.
