Robinhood UK crypto plans moved forward after the company said crypto trading will come to Britain soon. At the same event in London, Robinhood also widened its perpetual futures range across the European Union.
The company did not give a launch date for the UK product. However, it said British users will get crypto trading after previously having access to stocks and other investment products without digital assets.
Robinhood made the announcement at a keynote in London. The company said the UK and EU are central to its next growth phase.
Robinhood UK Crypto Rollout Nears
The Robinhood UK crypto move fills a gap in the firm’s British offering. Until now, that gap left the app without a crypto product in a market where local platforms already offer digital asset trading.
Robinhood said the UK launch is planned to arrive soon. Meanwhile, the company did not provide a firm date.
Johann Kerbrat, SVP and General Manager of Crypto and International at Robinhood, said the firm is combining traditional finance with decentralised finance to broaden ownership globally. He said users will not need technical expertise.
EU Perpetuals Add Commodities, ETFs and FX
Robinhood also expanded its EU perpetual futures product beyond crypto assets. The company is rolling out commodity, ETF and FX perpetuals to eligible investors across the EU.
The new lineup includes gold, silver, WTI, Brent crude oil, EUR/USD, and the QQQ and EWY ETFs. Robinhood said the products offer leverage of up to 10x.
The company added that perpetuals have been among its fastest-growing products in the EU since it expanded to 30 European countries last year. Additionally, Robinhood said the new asset classes will reach eligible users in waves.
Robinhood also launched the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain, a Layer 2 blockchain built on Arbitrum. Day-one partners include Uniswap and Pleiades, while Alchemy, BitGo and Chainlink are integrated.
The firm said new Stock Tokens are now live in the Robinhood Wallet in more than 120 countries, though access depends on jurisdiction. Robinhood added that its original tokenised shares product now carries the name Classic Stock Tokens in the Robinhood Europe app.
