ASX CFO retirement plans were announced on Friday after the Australian Securities Exchange said Andrew Tobin intends to retire and will stay in the role until it names a successor.
Tobin joined ASX in 2022. During his time there, he led the finance, treasury, strategy and corporate affairs teams. The exchange said he helped tighten financial discipline across the group. It also said he backed key strategy and change programs.
Interim CEO Darren Yip said Tobin made an important contribution over the past four years. He added that Tobin helped ASX through tough market conditions. Yip also thanked him for agreeing to remain in the post for a period, because that will support an orderly handover.
ASX CFO Retirement Comes Amid Leadership Change
ASX said Tobin will not leave at once. Instead, he will remain CFO until the company appoints a replacement. As a result, the exchange said the move should avoid disruption to its finance operations during the transition.
The ASX CFO retirement announcement comes during a wider leadership shift at the exchange. Anthony Attia is due to become Chief Executive Officer on September 1, 2026, as previously disclosed. Meanwhile, ASX said Attia will lead the search for the next CFO with support from the Board.
According to the exchange, that process will aim to match the choice with the incoming CEO’s vision and ASX’s long-term strategic direction. Therefore, Tobin’s exit will overlap with the leadership transition now under way.
