USDCHF resistance capped the pair after it climbed to 0.82045 and then turned lower, falling back toward 0.8185 in Tuesday trade.
The pair came close to a key upside zone at 0.8211 to 0.8214. That area marks the 38.2% retracement of the drop from the early-2025 high at 0.8211. It also matches the June 2025 swing high at 0.82145. However, the rally stopped 7 to 10 pips short of that band before sellers pushed the pair down.
Part of the move lower came with modest U.S. dollar selling. Treasury yields also edged down, which added to the pullback. As a result, sellers gained some ground after the pair hit overhead technical resistance.
USDCHF Resistance Keeps Focus on Support
Traders now watch 0.8170 as the first downside level. That point marks the low of the 2025 swing area. Below that, the rising 100-hour moving average stands at 0.81649.
If the pair breaks under both levels, sellers would strengthen their case. Consequently, the near-term bias would shift more to the downside. Until then, buyers still hold the technical edge, and the broader path remains tilted higher.
Policy Outlook Adds to USDCHF Resistance Test
A Bloomberg report from Monday said the Swiss National Bank is expected to keep its policy rate at 0.00% through the end of 2027. That view continues to support the U.S. dollar against the Swiss franc through rate differentials.
Meanwhile, markets are also weighing the chance that the Federal Reserve could keep a tightening bias if inflation pressures stay firm. That picture may become clearer on Wednesday after the FOMC policy decision. Traders will also watch comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh for signs on whether the Fed leans toward more tightening or a more neutral stance.
