BUX CTO appointment names Juha Ristolainen as chief technology officer, adding a fintech executive with more than 25 years in software development.
The European investment platform said Ristolainen also brings 15 years in executive leadership roles. He joins BUX after co-founding Upvest, where he served as CTO. There, he built backend investment infrastructure used by several major neobanks and brokers in Europe.
He also expanded the engineering team at Upvest. In addition, he worked through BaFin licensing requirements tied to investment services and crypto custody. Most recently, he held the CTO role at Alpaca, where he led the growth of the broker dealer’s global API infrastructure and built its engineering organisation.
BUX CTO Appointment Supports Savings Push
At BUX, Ristolainen will lead engineering and product strategy. The company said he will focus in part on the rollout of its new cross country savings offering. He said BUX had made investing simple and accessible and was now bringing that same clarity to savings across its markets.
Ristolainen added that the work matched what first drew him into fintech. He also said he was pleased to join a team he described as curious and customer focused.
BUX Broadens Its Product Range
BUX, a challenger brand under ABN AMRO, offers a mobile app for trading shares, ETFs and ETCs. It also provides automated Investment Plans. Meanwhile, the company is widening its range to include savings products.
BUX said it aims to give customers one app for both investing and saving. The firm currently operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria and Ireland.
