Crude oil $82.55 resistance remained the key level on August 11 as September 2026 futures held near recent highs after a sharp two-day rally.
User-supplied CL SEP26 30-minute data for August 9 to 11 showed the contract rising from $78.85 to $82.40. That marked a gain of $3.55, or about 4.5%. The contract hit a low of $77.79 early on August 10, then reversed and reached $82.55 on August 11.
The source article said the near-term setup stayed positive while price held above $81.90 to $82.00. However, buyers had not yet secured a clear move beyond $82.55. As a result, that level remained the main barrier before a push toward $83.00.
Crude Oil $82.55 Resistance Caps Advance
The strongest move came on August 10, when crude climbed back above $79 and then broke through $80. During the 10:00 to 16:00 impulse window, the contract added about $2.59 on aggregate volume of 91,965. Meanwhile, the busiest 30-minute bar came at 11:00, with volume of 13,966 and a close at $80.86.
Because the heaviest trading matched the break above $80, the article said the rally looked stronger than a move driven by thin volume. Crude then extended into the $82.30 to $82.55 zone and kept most of those gains. That price action suggested sellers had slowed the rise, but had not forced a notable pullback.
Support Zone Holds Near Recent Highs
Even so, the article noted that momentum had eased later in the move. Consolidation developed on lighter volume, while DataLogger readings showed a selling imbalance near the highs around 16:01 on August 10. Therefore, the report said buyers may need a fresh catalyst to drive another sustained advance.
The near-term map centered on crude oil $82.55 resistance and support at $81.90 to $82.00. A firm break above $82.55 would shift focus to $83.00, followed by $83.40 to $83.50. In contrast, if price stays above support but fails again at resistance, sideways trade may continue.
A drop below $81.90 would signal that the consolidation may be turning into a correction. The article then pointed to $81.60 to $81.70, followed by $81.20 to $80.80, as lower support areas. Below that, it highlighted $79.60 to $79.75 and then $78.70 to $78.75 as older pivot zones.
