MetaQuotes 1 trillion tokens were processed in the three weeks after the firm added a built-in AI assistant to the MT5 client terminal in July.
The company said users have run more than 1 trillion tokens through the tool since the release. MetaQuotes also said thousands of MT5 users are using the assistant for tasks that range from chart analysis to automated strategy development. However, the source article noted that token totals show text volume, not direct trading or coding gains.
Christoforos Theodoulou, Chief Business Officer at MetaQuotes, described the product to Finance Magnates as an “orchestrated coding agent powered by LLMs.” He said the assistant lets traders and developers analyse code, plan multi-step actions, and automate routine tasks across the workflow. Because the tool sits inside the main interface and is free, the article said those features likely helped drive take-up.
MetaQuotes 1 Trillion Tokens in Context
The report said the figure points to heavy use by early adopters rather than one-off testing. Still, it also placed the number in context. While MetaQuotes said thousands of users are active, the article noted that MT5 has a global user base in the millions.
Since early 2026, several major players have launched MCP servers that let AI models connect directly with trading platforms. Meanwhile, Finance Magnates said Claude appeared at nine out of ten brokers it investigated. As a result, the broader push to add AI tools to trading systems has gained pace.
Token Counts Do Not Show Results
The article also stressed that high token use does not prove practical value. Tokens measure the amount of text that moves into and out of a model. Therefore, large totals can come from repeated debugging attempts or weak prompts that consume more model output.
Similarly, the report said a novice trader could generate high token usage by asking basic market questions without gaining a real edge. So, although MetaQuotes 1 trillion tokens signals strong early experimentation, the figure does not show whether users achieved faster development, fewer bugs, or better trading results.
