Spotware Launches cTrader CLI for AI Trading Tasks

Forex24NewsBy Forex24NewsAugust 13, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

cTrader CLI launched on Thursday as Spotware added a command-line tool for account access, cBots, backtests, and market data. The new cTrader CLI also lets third-party AI apps turn natural-language prompts into commands. Spotware said users can call the commands directly, so the AI layer remains optional.

Algo traders can shift repeat tasks away from cTrader’s main interface and run them on local Windows or Linux systems. One setup can manage several accounts. Meanwhile, bot instances can keep running in the background.

cTrader CLI Supports Local Bot Control

Spotware’s documentation shows three ways to launch the tool: cTrader Windows, a Windows terminal, and a Linux Docker image. A bot started as an outside process keeps running after the desktop app closes. Current support starts with cTrader 4.8 and .NET 6 algorithms.

The command set includes account and symbol lookup, market data, trading history, orders, and positions. Users can start or stop cBots and change their settings. In addition, the same algorithm can run across different accounts, symbols, or time periods.

Spotware Head of Product Development Sergey Borisov said the release gives users the freedom to use AI to run and automate trading without a graphical interface.

Backtests and AI Workflow Options

Backtests can use price data from the cTrader server, local files, or custom datasets. Reports come in HTML or JSON. As a result, an AI tool or another program can review the output in a structured format.

Spotware said users can test parameter sets and compare optimization results before they deploy a strategy. They can also pull trading history and exposure, set price alerts, and watch running instances without going back to the main cTrader window.

Supported AI apps include Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and Gemini CLI, according to Spotware. The release follows cTrader AI Agent Connect, which Spotware launched in May. That package uses two Model Context Protocol servers, with one remote server for account and market tasks and one local server tied to the Windows workspace.

The company said cTrader CLI can use a cTID password file for login and can take account details through command arguments or environment variables. Docker users must mount bot files and credential files into the container. However, local use leaves responsibility for the machine, network, and stored credentials with the user.
